Bloor West Village

Bloor West Village is a well established family oriented neighbourhood with good schools offering a variety of great music & sports programs, as well as French Immersion and easy access to 2 subway stations as well as the Gardiner/Lakeshore. It lies just north of Bloor St.- just east of Jane St and just west of High Park and is easy access to 2 subway stations as well as Gardiner Expressway and Lakeshore routes. The most easterly part of the district is steps to High Park- one of Toronto’s largest and best know parks. The 399 acre park offers picnic areas, manicured gardens, tennis courts, large outdoor pool & wading pool, an adventure playground, animal paddocks and Grenadier Pond.
The westerly part is steps to Etienne Brule Park which features walking and cycling paths adjacent to the Humber River, as well as scenic picnic areas.

Bloor West is one of the city’s more exciting commercial corridors, and one of the few Toronto “villages” to live up to it name! The large number of eastern European people who settled here in the 1950’s and 1960’s helped create the Bloor West Village Business Improvement Area (one of the city’s first) which provides a model for rejuvenation for other urban neighbourhoods, and helped shape the BWV shopping district that exists today! Shoppers return again and again to enjoy the restaurants, cafes, boutique stores, specialty food and meat shops, amazing bakeries and abundant green grocers.

The homes in Bloor West were constructed between 1912-1925 and are fairly similar in style and size. These 2 storey 3-4 bedroom detached and semi detached homes feature wonderful wide front porches, lots of wood trim & accents throughout, hardwood floors, leaded glass & fireplaces. Many of the original homes have been updated & renovated, but maintain much of their original charm & details. Abundant mature maple and oaks tree shade the streets.
