Old Mill/Baby Point

Baby Point home in Toronto. Baby Point club

The Old Mill neighbourhood is located adjacent to the meandering Humber River system and Etienne Brule Park and is minutes to Old Mill subway station. The hilly and winding streets (some with original cobble stone details) are well treed. The original homes in this neighbourhood were built between 1920-1940, and are mostly detached 2 storey homes with distinct Tudor styling, attractive wood accents/ details & hardwood floors. Some have been extensively renovated and updated with additions to enhance interior living space. A few of the streets offer similar style homes to those found in Bloor West, but they have the added benefit of a private drive. Other streets have unique lots and may back onto the ravine or overlook the Humber River or Old Mill.

Etienne Brule Park and The Humber River in Toronto

Baby Point neighbourhood is positioned on a peninsula of land or a “point” overlooking the Humber River. It is a relatively small enclave of homes located just west of Jane St. both slightly south and north of Annette St. Baby Point residents can enjoy shopping along the developing retail area along both Annette and Jane streets. Here there are several restaurants, cafes, food shops, green grocer, pharmacy & florists as well as unique storefronts like Wintergarden, Rizo Home or La Perlerie. Bloor West shopping & Jane or Old Mill subway stations are a short 10-15 minute walk.

Old Millside home in West TorontoThe majority of the homes in this neighbourhood were built between 1920-1930. Many home buyers associate the more modest portion of this area with Bloor West Village. Historic stone gates at the intersection of Baby Point Rd mark the entrance to the neighbourhood. An early version of a “gated community” perhaps? The signature streets of Baby Point ( Baby Point Road and Baby Point Cres) feature expansive homes resembling Old English Manor houses, similar in style and design as homes found in The Kingsway. The more modest two storey homes are positioned near Jane St. and the immediate entrance to the Baby Point area.

The Baby Point Club is a private club for the neighbourhood (located centrally –just off (Baby Point Rd) and features a rustic clubhouse, 2 tennis courts and lawn bowling. Bridge and fitness classes are scheduled along with seasonal activities like lawn bowling and tennis.

Etienne Brule Park is a short walk from either area and features 4 tennis courts, a wonderful extensive paved cycling /walking trail that follows the Humber River and plenty of space for picnics of all sizes!
