Alderwood

Alderwood HomesAlderwood is a well established neighbourhood located on the westerly edge of Toronto. Originally a farming community, many of the streets in Alderwood are named after the original farmers located here - including Brown, Evans, Lunness and Horner. Alderwood’s grid patterned streets are lined with bungalows and 1 ½ storey homes, primarily built post-war (late 1940’s -1950’s). They are attractively maintained with manicured lawns & most often feature a private drive and garage.

Alderwood is bounded by the Etobicoke Creek to the west, the Gardiner Expressway to the north, Kipling Ave to the east and the CNR railway to the south. The south–easterly portion of the area experienced a rapid (light) industrialization in the 1930’s and today this portion of the area is still home to several major corporate employers.

The Gardiner Expressway and Lakeshore Blvd are a short drive south and accessed directly from Islington for easy access to the Airport or downtown Toronto.
