Princess Rosethorn Community is a quiet mid century era “ suburb” located in Central Etobicoke –and is in fact, three neighbourhoods in one! With Islington to the east and Martingrove to the west- much of the existing housing stock here consists of contemporary and ranch style bunglows, or split level style homes built between 1955 and 1965. Housing density is low (most homes are single family) with tranquil curved streetscapes, mature landscaping and wider lot frontages.
There are slight variances is housing/lot size between two of the areas- Princess Anne Manor (east of Kipling) which features many larger homes/lots – some of these lot frontages are a surprising 80 to 100 feet! Princess Margaret Gardens (west of Kipling) that offers a bit more “value” for buyers priced out of “the Manor” with spacious ,yet slightly smaller homes. Thorncrest Village- is the third “exclusive” smaller community (just north of Rathburn) having its own “private”club house/ community centre, similar large lots, towering trees…as well as a wider range of luxury housing styles!
Overall Princess Rosethorn area is a more car dependent community, however there is reasonable bus service to wisk you to the Bloor subway line or GO station. It is approx. 30 minutes to drive to downtown Toronto from here. Shopping in the area is handy with nearby plazas such as Lloyd Manor plaza near Eglington, or smaller Thorncrest Plaza. This neighbourhood offers a tranquil Downtown lifestyle alternative, without giving up on accessibility to all of the services that Toronto has to offer!
